Gloom MODsHave you already completed all levels of original "Gloom" (CD32 version)? If you bought a Floppy Disk Drive for CD32 (Analogic FDD is the most inexpensive), play following mods. You can download these mods for FREE. Enjoy these games as "Console games" !! You can also use 6 button pad for Mega Drive, one of the greatest control pad. Note: If you play the game on your CD32 + Analogic FDD, you should set your screen size to the smallest (1st) or the 2nd size. In the picture on the left, the full screen size was set due to a good show for its stuff, though! Windows users: Now you can play these Gloom mods using "ZGloom" created by Swizpig. This website also uploads each DATA fixed for using ZGloom. See "details" I wrote about ZGloom! |

These
maps were originally included in the shareware CD, "AGA Experience
volume 2" (by Sadness software, 1996). The date of these files were 1995, so obviously they were made by Black Magic, I think. I suspect that they should have been added to original Gloom or Gloom Deluxe, however, I don't know details. |

These
maps were made imitating 5 levels of "Alien Breed 3D", which was
also famous Amiga FPS. According the author (external link), he made the 6th level later. Unfortunately his webpage closed and that file is missing. All these maps have many switches and they are spacious. Especially the 4th and the 5th levels, each passages are narrow, and many enemies wait in ambush for you... Gloomy Breed had some issues, so I fixed as following. 1. The 3rd level had 2 warp points as "event6,7". It let you be stuck after once you die at the room over warp points. I changed them to "permanent" warps. 2. The 4th and the 5th level uses txts/ltx4_2,4_3 which have been missed out. Obviously they were Hell's textures, so I chose and patched them. |

Almost
levels are slightly harder than original spacehulk levels of
original Gloom. There is a hard scene that you are teleported to the center of the big room where many enemies appear at the same time including even Phantoms and Ghouls !! Chris Collings & Jon Bullard, who made these maps, also made "Maps"(2 levels). (Difficulty: ) Those 2 levels are very similar to these "New Spacehulk" 7 levels, so I guess those 2 levels were just a demo of these "New Spacehulk" 7 levels. Note: Originally 2P co-op mode were not available in "Maps"(2 levels), however, I made it available in ADF version to avoid your system crashes after you select "Maps" as 2P co-op mode. |

Mechanical
dark walls. You will encounter many scenes that Lizards and
Phantoms appear at once. Especially in the final 6th level, the map is so complicated as like a labyrinth, and many Phantoms would appear. If you play this on CD32+FDD (without RAM expansion): If you loaded this from "Gloom Deluxe", it is a bit sluggish. So you must play this on Meaty mode at least. We recommend you to load this game from "Classic Gloom" especially for the first time. The author, Jon Bullard also made new 7 levels for 2P combat mode. Those 7 combat maps requires original Gloom's texture files, though. |

Obviously
it is the hardest mod out of all mods in 1990s. It's hard to notice where are switches to open doors because "change txts" effects were not used for switches in early scenes. However, it was the author's intention. See the third level. "Change txts" effects were surely used. In addition, we have to fight against Troll and Phantom when our guns are the weakest. "Morph" effects (moving walls and pillars) are also complicated. IMO this mod is slightly harder than "Hell" series of original "Gloom", so I recommend you to challenge it if you feel that other easier maps are boring. |

In
December 2012, EXEC was going to organize the competition which
could award 350 PLN. Unfortunately it failed because there were only two participants while January 2013 was out. (Minimum requirements: 5 participants.) But these 2 maps were well-done even though it was first attempt for those two participants. Robert, who made "Technician Facility", also made "IFF2Gloom", "MakeGloomObj" and so on in 2014. My mods would NOT have been possible without those utilities. So I appreciate him always. Another map called "Acid Base" is highly recommended for players who can complete "Gothic Tomb" levels w/o any cheats. As like as the 4th levels of "Gloomy Breed", it is a big map which has well consisted of many switches and doors. Many Terra appears at the final scene, and it makes the game harder and amazing. |

These
maps has created by Czeslaw Mnich, a Polish Amigan who had already
made some free games such as "Magic Ball". According to the author, most of those maps was created in 2012. In early 2014, he created Pyramid and Predator, and prepared enemies in Portal level, which has already created. These maps have uploaded in April 2014. At the same time he was looking for instruction file for Makeanim program, which creates new enemies' file for Gloom. When I noticed him at aminet, I've had it ( originally those files were in Gloom3's commercial CD ) by chance. I strongly felt that this situation was a chance to contact with him and have help to create my own maps. Thus it became the beginning of creating my new mods, which became my another new hobby. After that, I was given a permission to create ADF version from the author, Czeslaw. There are bigger maps which were carefully created and all sort of stuff as a useful reference, I think. ADF version allow you to play 2 players co-op mode and 2 players combat mode. |

This
mod reproduces the legendary scene of the final part of "Final
Fantasy X" (PS2 version). I decided to create this mod after I remembered an impression when I saw Dream Zanarkand illuminated at once. ...Once you got close to Jecht (human form), he would go farther inside of the darkness. After you further more 1, 2 steps, The scenery around you would change to the beautiful night view at once. After that you will hear groans of Jecht, then you will see Braska's Final Aeon who comes from behind the stadium. Those gimmicks would be happened by "Change texture" effect and "Morph" effect. Actually you will fight against 2 Yu Pagodas (they equal 2 objs/dragons !) They would appear when you got close to Braska's Final Aeon. The introduction part of "Otherworld" would be also played at the same time . There was an "easy solution" in the previous version. Updated version has no inner walls.(You can enjoy at the 1x1 4th screen, at most.) On the other hand, it made that "easy solution" ineffective. You can also select 2 players co-op mode and combat mode. |

It's
based on a freeware FPS game which is just like 8 bit console game
(coder:Locomalito; musician:RushJet1). It has been ported with remake by Czeslaw. There are not only sound effects but also original music. In November 2014, 3 levels demo version was released. Then, 7 new tougher levels were added in early December. (You must complete this new 7 levels first. Then 3 demo levels would be unlocked.) On Dec 23, last 3 levels (which was originally demo levels) modified as much harder levels. "New 7 levels" are 5 stars difficulty, and actually "the last 3 levels" are not harder than previous 7 levels, I judged. In the last 3 levels you can surely see bunches of troll/demon type enemies, however, you can get the 3rd gun and enough health items. The most important reason is the design of maps. Actually first 7 levels seem more complicated design. In the last 3 levels, actually you won't be attacked from behind. Furthermore, you will be able to complete this 3 levels without even 1 miss if you can complete first 7 levels and reach them. So why is my judgement "6 stars" ? It is because this updated version does not allow you to save & restart from later levels ! You have to complete all 10 levels until your 3 lives run out. Once I asked Czeslaw whether it is surely OK or not. He didn't mention a lot about "no save points". Perhaps this is his intention. Both 2 player co-op mode and 2 player combat mode are also available. |

Original
"Death Mask" game allowed us to turn players for the unit of only
90. So it was hard to recognize it as FPS game. Czeslaw created this great playable game as "Total Conversion of Gloom" with his superior remake. This game would be liked by even somebody who hates the original "Death Mask". Yes, I am one of them.(Lol) Both 2 player co-op mode and 2 player combat mode are also available. CD32+FDD(without RAM expansion) users: I have to strongly recommend you to remove med1 & med2 from sfxs drawer in advance, otherwise the game would be really sluggish (it becomes almost unplayable) from the 5th level and later. This game allows you to restart from Level 8,9 and 10, if you could reach each level once. But I recommend you to avoid restarting from the 10th level ("Nest") due to following reason. In the 10th level, many tough enemies appear. You will have to grab power-ups for your gun first. While you go to pick up them, many enemies would appear. If you die while many enemies are active, the game would crash. This issue is similar to E5L4 of Gloom3. It seems that it is unrelated to your CPU nor RAM. So you should restart from 8th or 9th level. The 8th level is the same map as a demo level in Czeslaw's previous "new maps" set, however, new items (bouncer and stronger gun) makes the difficulty easier. The 9th level is also easy. After you pick up power-ups from the 8th or the 9th level, it would become easier to avoid that crash issue. It is because you can defeat enemies immediately before many enemies become active at the same time. |

Earok,
a famous ISO master involved "Unofficial CD32 ports project", was going to create the construction kit for Gloom MODs from 2015. Earok
released a CD32 formatted ISO, the compilation of Gloom series and
its MODs as well as his other unofficial CD32 ports. The contents are described above. What I should specially mention is "Gloom II", which consists of several MODs connected by new storyline earok created. In this "Gloom II", all textures of SpaceHulk are totally replaced with new ones, which earok borrowed from following games and edited to fit for Gloom engine. (Space Hulk: Vengeance of the Blood Angels, Iron Angel of the Apocalypse and Necrodome ) If you're interested in only those textures, download "Earok's Remix" version of "Gloom MODs compilation: The first age" pack. If you have only a vanilla CD32 (w/o FDD), obviously it would be rational to burn this ISO to your own CD-R. But don't sell it please.(For example, at eBay.) Mark Sibly gives a permission to distribute "Gloom Deluxe" freely in a good intention. Don't gain any money by selling original game and its MODs, okay ?! |
